Strong female character. Almost all character in my opinion are main characters with only a few side characters. All are hard-headed and stubborn.

Summary:

In our timeline, the Twin Towers attack was a horrific but isolated terrorist event.

Not in Kaia's.

In the two decades since that day, the attacks have escalated - and so have the attempts at bringing it all under control.

Already living in a society of constant scrutiny and fear, Kaia finds her old life completely destroyed when a routine trip ends with her accused of terrorism and dragged into a new and high stakes world.

SHARD tells a complete story and is the first volume in an exciting new YA Sci-fi trilogy. It is told in third person from multiple POVs in its diverse cast.

My Review:

Completely genius idea! Honestly, completely unique and I've never heard of an elemental story being take this way. Elemental powers are usually, honestly, quite boring. Just fire, water, earth and air. It gets boring after reading like several stories with the same elements. A.M Pierre brought a whole new idea to elemental powers. Instead of it being the normal elements, you have every small element. Like, on the periodic table.

Completely GENIUS!

I adored this story. Although I am one for romance, this one held little to no romance. I still loved it! Just a small note for those who look for only romance. There are so many characters in this story that are so easy to side with and truly understand.

Adore this idea and definitely recommend! Pros:

Characters are a complete masterpiece. Their backgrounds are written so beautifully and help you understand the characters and understand them in a whole new way.

The idea was completely new and brilliant. I've never seen or heard of a book that's like this!

Attention was held! Never once did I want to put it down and go do something else.

Can't wait for more of the series!

Con: Only a few parts had me slightly confused, which is the reason I gave it 4.5 out of 5 instead of 5.
